This pub is very friendly and right next to the steam railway. It serves English food all day including breakfast. After 2pm (except Sundays) Excellent Thai food cooked by a married Thai couple. Food is served well into the evening and take away is available. Dogs are allowed in the bar area and the same food is served in the bar as in the restaurant. Reasonably priced too. No garden but tables on the paved area outside. Barry is the barman and real ale is served too.

A very busy, but basic pub. If you don't book a table when they're busy then you could wait ages before you get served. Drinks come up quite quickly though. They are the closest pub to a nearby caravan/campsite, so appear to get a lot of their trade, in season. Being on the (NW) edge of the Forest of Dean public playground it's handy to know they will happily accept dogs in the bar area.

Excellent pub with excellent food, but also very friendly towards dogs! Dogs are allowed on the decking outside, and in the immediate bar area, and even get the dog biscuit or two - seems to be a supply hidden behind the bar! Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Excellent local walks as well, as the old Stroundwater Canel which runs alongside the pub, and you can walk upto Saul Juncton where it joins with the Gloucester & Sharpness cancel, or go the other way towards the River Severn. Friday evenings can get a little busy sometimes, so if you want to eat then it maybe a good idea to book the previous day.
