A rustic pub perched on the banks of the River Medina, just up the river from Cowes in Whippingham, with lovely views from a large beer garden and patio. Built in the 1600s, this traditional pub and terrific restaurant allow dogs in the bar. There is a lovely nature trail behind the pub. Featured in the Good Beer Guide 2005 and recipient of CAMRA 2005. However! one supporter reports that: On asking if we could bring the dogs in we were told that they could go into one small bar area but it so happened that all the tables had been reserved for crib players and this meant that there was no room for us. We weren't offered the use of any of the other areas in the pub. Bother.
