In winter, you'll always find game on the menu while the fish comes fresh from Cornwall daily. The vegetables are all homegrown, nearby. There are always excellent vegetarian dishes on the menu. They serve Hook Norton Best plus two varying guest ales. There are bedrooms above the pub and around the pretty courtyard area.

Dogs always welcome at this lovely thatched freehouse. There's quite often a clutch of labs in the public bar, as well as their friends. The landlord/chef usually has treats from the kitchen available, and fresh water is always kept topped up. A certain number of canine locals also have a tab where they are given the occasional 1/4 pint from the drip trays! Superb food, great wine, real ale, and perry together with a friendly welcome

Getting to the Turf can be quite tricky. If you can find Broad Street walk down Catte Street and then into New College Lane then first left after the bridge, it is not visible from the road so persevere! It will be worth it. Dogs are allowed in the garden (which is 90% of the seating at the Turf). Decent food and a great selection of cask ales ... if everything is on, there should be 11 ... which is enough to keep you busy!
