A lovely pub with a great atmosphere and many lovely walks nearby. The current managers took over in about August 06 and they are extremely welcoming and friendly. Make it a regular stop when walking in the area and you may meet Venn, one supporter's German Shepherd who is always made to feel very welcome. He even gets served first with his favourite appetiser, ice, of which he gets a small bucket full. Well worth a visit!

It became a pub in 1825 but in recent years has been more akin to a restaurant than pub, especially at weekends, meaning that drinkers may find all the tables taken by diners.
