Friends with us said that Appledore should be renamed Appledogs due to the number of canine visitors! Beautifully refurbished 17th Century Inn where muddy boots and dirty paws are welcomed. This pub titles itself as 'a Friendly Seaside Pub' I would add "very" to the friendly part. We have visited this pub twice (once to both eat and drink) with 2 dogs in tow and on both occasions been made to feel very welcome with treats and water provided for the dogs. The food is an eclectic mix of Thai and standard English food and whilst not quick (their motto is 'We don't do fast food, just good food cooked well') is well worth waiting for, being both freshly cooked, well presented and tasty (and the wait wasn't that long!). If you are in the Bude area and fancy something to eat or drink definitely worth a visit.

A great place to eat on holiday as it is in the middle of the village, you can't miss it. The food is excellent for all tastes and great filling portions to boot. All day breakfasts, baked potatoes, baguettes, just tea, coffee, cream teas to full evening meals, specials, fish, Mexican type and more. Great real ales too. Tastes good and there is plenty of space in the restaurant and we sat by the pool table by the bar, all with no problems with our dog Skye. It is a traditional place with large solid wooden tables and chairs.Children are catered for as well with a variety of childrens' meals. It gets very busy in the summer. Billy Budds pub next door is theirs as well and does slightly different meals out of the kitchen and does not get as busy, nice to watch telly, surf dvd's and more.
