The Royal is a very friendly country pub. It sells Tetleys and various guest beers, does en-suite B&B (which is also dog friendly), has superb views of the surrounding countryside, and hosts splendid carol singing sessions during the six week run up to Christmas. The b&b is dog friendly. B&B is in chalet type accommodation outside the pub. Regarding the pub itself, there is the usual dog friendly proviso. IE., dogs welcome as long as they behave themselves. Also the management ask that people check with them first. This is purely because they have two dogs of their own.

What a truly fantastic pub this is. It's the heart of the village and dogs are welcome in the bar, where you can also enjoy their excellent food. We stay in Farnley Tyas twice a year; we've eaten there 10+ times and never been disappointed. It describes itself as a country pub. Loads of lovely footpaths locally for walkers. There's dog water outside and the staff are lovely. It has two sister pubs in the area: The Bull's Head Inn at Blackmoorfoot is foodie and dog friendly too in a nice bar room. We plan to try The Kaye Arms at Grange Moor very soon!
