Apparently the only real ale pub in Blackpool. Just behind the Golden Mile so not full of tourists. Quite an old pub, so plenty of character but also a little jaded. We were told by a local that it's the only pub advertised as being openly dog friendly in Blackpool. Two dogs present in the bar when we were there and a bowl of water brought over by staff which was helpful.

This pub has recently been fully refurbished. I couldn't find a review so felt I'd like being the first to do so.
The menu is based primarily on pizza and burgers that are made freshly in front of the customer and they do open at 9am for a cooked breakfast as well. Be sure to look at the website for current offers.
Dog access is granted, providing the furniture is for owners only. Approximately two thirds of the pub is dog friendly, leaving space for other guests to dine seperately.
Additionally, the menu has lunchtime baguettes, salads, sides and desserts.
The staff are very warm and welcoming to dogs, the fittings and furnishings are clean and sports are covered but not at high volume.
The seating area outside has increased in size and there is a kids play area. Car parking is available.

There is a superb beer garden for the summer months with water for the dogs provided. The landlord even fusses the dogs and gives them treats. The building is a restaurant attached to a genuine windmill. The windmill itself is warm and cosy with upholstered furniture and it is in here where dogs join you whilst you eat fantastic food at reasonable prices. It is well worth a visit as the surrounding countryside is great for a walk, including the Lancaster canal only a mile away.

The attraction for me was the fact that this pub sits on the Lancaster Canal, with plenty of parking spaces and a lovely gravel towpath if you head north or an excitingly muddy path with better views if you head south.
The pub is dog-friendly with staff making a fuss of dogs and bringing a bowl of water on request.
The food is lovely pub grub with a lot of effort put into it. The menu was difficult to choose from as everything looked so good. Lots of locally sourced food on the menu and I can highly recommend Nell's garlic bread with cheese as a side!
The pub is a part of Guy's Thatched Hamlet which is a lovely olde worlde group of buildings which are also worth a look.

This Robinsons pub is listed on CAMRA's Historic Inventories of pub interiors.
The public bar has a wonderful ceramic semi-circular bar counter and is one of only 14 ceramic bars counters left in the country.
Eight hand pulled ales including Dizzy Blonde, Unicorn and Old Tom plus five rotating guest. Five fantastic world lagers. Four ciders and Guinness too.
A range of pork pies are served as well as picked eggs, picked onions nuts and crisps available.
Well behaved dogs welcomed and watered. Advised not on a Friday or Saturday nights as the pub gets busy.
Don't forget to ask the bar staff why there is no other pub like The Black Horse Hotel in the land.
