Often stop off here for a pint of Wharfedale Blonde - this is a great pub that other landlords should look to as a bench mark. The beer is well priced and of great quality - it is brewed here I guess! However there are plenty of guest ales on to. The area is welcoming and fresh - the staff are friendly and the locals are chatty. Doggy treats in a jar on the bar. Best beer and possibly best pub in Yorkshire.

The pub is set in good walking country between the River Aire and the Leeds and Liverpool canal. There is a public footpath along the River Aire just in front of the pub which is good for walking your four legged friend however there are sheep there so off the lead is out of the question. The canal towpath is a good alternative. Nice 17th century building but the interior is looking a little tired. Warm welcome from the landlord and you can take your dog anywhere. There is a beer garden if the weather is nice. Reasonable range of cask ales including Copper Dragon, Ilkley, Tetleys and Timothy Taylor Landlord. Food is OK but not memorable and the menu is pretty basic. Having said that the prices reflect the quality so you could argue it is value for money but there are better pubs in the locality.

This pub is a very friendly local. More dogs than people half the time as there are woods and fields behind the pub and every local seems to own a dog. The pub dog, Sheba is very entertaining. Sundays are very family friendly. They only do sandwiches (usually free) and Stew etc on Sunday.
