Formerly The Keswick Lodge, the focus of this venue is now as a hotel rather than a pub. Decor is sleekly 'imitation old' and the venue is lacking in atmosphere. The food's rather similar but perfectly ok.
Everything this pub does it does very professionally, though, Keswick has several much more characterful dog-friendly watering-holes.

Very friendly, this unpretentious pub is deservedly popular for its beer, food and atmosphere. They offer very reasonably priced bar food of the home cooked variety all day. The range of ales is great with a good selection from the local Keswick brewery, only a few hundred yards away. Dogs are made very welcome all day with plenty of water provided not to mention that there is also a comprehensive Doggie Menu! .. dried dog food, wet dog food, treats, dentastix.

Jennings Ales - Kept well but served a little cold, but they soon get to a proper temperature. Bar menu fairly reasonably priced - a bit on the "n'chips" side. The St Johns Restaurant, at the opposite end from the bar, is excellent. You can stay too, some residents have said that the Llamas can make a bit of noise! But who cares as they are very dog friendly. Sitting in the lounge, in front of the fire watching the steam rise from a wet spaniel, while supping a pint, is quite rewarding.

Handsome, low-slung old building - the nearest thing to brewery tap for nearby Jennings Brewery, so full Jennings range (including short-term trial runs and specials) plus usually a couple of guest ales. Calmly professional all-male bar staff run a tight but friendly ship. Much loved by locals, much visited by tourists, so often busy. For food, (simple but real) it's best to arrive early, otherwise you may face a long-ish wait. Dogs welcome throughout; always a few local hounds tucked under tables to say hello to.

Menu of pub basics but it's all real and good and the portions are hefty. Half a dozen different ales on offer from the pub's own brewery. Doris's Birthday Ale (named for the mother in law of the pub's original landlord when it was 'reconstituted' 20+ years ago) is a long-standing and deserved favourite.

It advertises itself as having a dog-friendly-floor.
