The pub has been refurbed recently. Dogs allowed in the lower bar area while food is being served (till 8.30pm) and throughout after that. Fantastic hosts. Set in the mediaeval village of Robin Hood's Bay. Simple pub grub, always good range of guest beers. Staff local and very friendly, children and dogs welcomed in all public areas. Good rest stop after long walk from Ravenscar or Whitby to Robin Hood's Bay. Regular folk evenings, during Whitby Folk week every afternoon folk music, tales and shanties.

Come across this pub by chance when looking for a pub with Sky Sports. Owners have recently taken over so don't be put off by the appearance from outside. Locals all had their dogs with them and we were made to feel very welcome; also family friendly. We returned on the evening primarily to watch the football but we had a meal that was fantastic and again the welcome we received was fantastic.

Stumbled across this little pub after being recommended to go by some people we met in the town centre. Five minutes walk up the road past the station, and well worth the walk up the hill to visit, a true hidden gem in Whitby and a must visit. Family and dog friendly too, dogs are given their own dish of water on arrival. Railway Chippie is just across the road, so if you want to eat, the pub allows you to bring your takeaway into the pub and eat it.

This is a real gem. You would not believe this upmarket restaurant from the outside was dog friendly. But it is. With loads of space, great food and beers. Most people had a dog with them when we visited. A bowl of water was offered for Billy when we sat down. Mainly a fish restaurant, but also does steak and grills. Very friendly staff and reasonable prices. Great views over the harbour. Highly recommended.

A family-run coffee shop, which has been adamantly dog-friendly since it opened two years ago. The coffee is all fair trade, the food is sourced locally where possible (try the bacon, mozzarella and rich tomato panini with bacon smoked in Fortune's kipper-house); the soup is home-made (beetroot and butterbean is to die for) and the almost-famous sticky cakes are all home-made with real butter and Whitby free-range eggs. The menu, sweet and savoury, changes daily and cakes include flavours such as raspberry, white chocolate and vanilla; bitter orange and dark chocolate and chocolate and beetroot. Dogs are greeted with water and a treat and and made very welcome indeed. The owners have their own dog - Ketchup Robinson - for whom a table is often reserved, although customers are invited to share with him. And they do. A real gem and a favourite among dog-walkers.

Although this is not a pub, I do believe this should be included due to the quality of the food and its dog friendliness. The restaurant is in a property that dates back to the middle of the 18th century. The restaurant has featured many TV series and received the seal of approval of the late Sir Terry Wogan in one of his late TV series, Culinary Outings. The fish and chips are the best I have ever tasted and dogs are greeted with water and treats.

This is a fantastic place to eat with your four legged part of the family. Although it is not dog friendly throughout the hotel, the staff are so friendly and will guide you to the parts which are. They set us up a table for just the two of us and Rusty in the snug, so we could have the fine dining of Reflections restaurant, which made us feel very special. In the Bistro, where they do the daily carvery, there is a dog friendly area. The Crescent has such a wide variety of excellent food at very reasonable prices. The staff are just so friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

This pub was taken over in 2015 by a very friendly couple and their dog, Harley. This is a fabulous gem. Not only are Gary, Tina and Harley very friendly and welcoming so are the staff and locals. Your dog is bound to be made a fuss of and treats are normally in abundance from the customers. The pub serves great real ales. Food is only served on a Tuesday night but the rest of the time a few sandwiches or sausage rolls may appear. When in Scarborough this is a must to visit. You will keep going back we can guarantee it.

On the main road to Scarborough, this pub was the perfect stop for us when we stayed in the area. Good simple food, well presented and cooked. Our dog Cass was made very welcome and water and treats were on offer.
The hard floor areas were all dog friendly and we even saw a local man willing to move tables to accommodate travellers with a dog.
Brilliant to find a place which welcomed dogs and had a good old pub food menu of burgers, steaks and scampi.

This is a lovely place, right on the coast to coast walk in the North York Moors, just a few miles from the Cleveland Walk.
