Stumbled upon this gem of a pub after being turned away from a couple of other establishments in our quest for a dog friendly evening meal. Staff were extremely welcoming to us and our dog. Genuine village pub ambience. We arrived in the middle of a game of Aunt Sally on the skittle alley outside and overheard the post match analysis as we enjoyed our meal in the bar. Food was great too.

Serving perfectly conditioned cask ales and a vast selection of gins, whiskey and rum. Water bowls located at the front and also in the sunny garden. Lovely and traditional 17th Century country pub. With a big garden and large conservatory. Dogs are allowed in the beer garden and conservatory. We had a table in the conservatory on a very busy Saturday lunchtime. Food very good, not bad prices and a reasonable choice for vegetarians. Staff very efficient and lots of them. It is a busy pub as it is right on the A420, however this didn't spoil our meal. Be warned, not the place for a quiet drink during the day as it is a family venue, so lots of children in the garden area.

The staff were lovely and very friendly and dogs are welcome in the bar/lower restaurant which has tables for lunch or dinner. You will need to book on a Friday or Saturday night as they are quite busy. They have a large rear garden which was lovely for drinks on a sunny afternoon. They weren't set up to serve meals in the garden but it is something they are considering. The food was amazing. Not a cheap meal but well worth the money. We had cheese souffle and a rabbit and chorizo salad for starters and then duck and a rib eye steak for mains. Both fabulous. There were several fish and vegetarian options throughout the menu as well. We were too full for dessert which was a shame. They do lunch on Sunday but not dinner.

  • StarsThis icon is for.....

Stars are awarded by YOU.

Please help us get the stars right, they indicate overall dog-friendliness. So a simple pub may deserve 5 Stars, whereas a very smart gastropub may only receive 1, (or visa versa).

Stars represent Your Views, SO...

If you think that one of the listed pubs needs more or less Stars PLEASE just HOVER OVER Rate Pub link AND CLICK THE STARS. Your new rating will get sent to us.

Why have some pubs got no stars?

Because no one has told us yet how many it deserves! Please bear with us while we update the pubs, this may take a little while as there are OVER 7000!

As you can see we do need your help with the new dog-friendly ratings. This is an excellent excuse to visit all the pubs that are local to you and do some serious research. Ideally every pub should be ‘starred and iconned’. Woof, woof!
