COVENT GARDEN PipsDish

Address: 15 Exeter Street, Covent Garden, WC2E 7DT
Tel: 02072407232
Web: www.philipdundas.com

In the heart of the West End, is a menu-free restaurant, the dishes changing every day depending on what ingredients are most fresh, seasonal and local. They welcome dogs (Pip's dog may even be around to befriend yours) - a rare find in central London. Unfortunately other patrons aren't always quite so welcoming to your four-legged friend.

We were welcomed with our dog in the upper room were we had lunch. The waiter offered water for the dog allowing him to stay with us while we ate. In the room there was another family with a small dog. I presume that clients with dogs are also welcomed on the ground floor area, more appropriate for a couple of pints. At the entrance of the pub there is a sign confirming that dogs are welcomed.

Staff behind the bar seemed genuinely thrilled to have my Bedlington grace their premises. A spacious pub with very high ceilings, and very large dining area at the back with sumptuous sofas and armchairs, though we sat at a conventional table and pub chairs. I arrived at 6pm and the place soon filled up, so was lucky to get a table when I did. It is a Sam Smith's pub, which serves some of the beers they brew up in North Yorkshire. I had brought my dogs food bowl and water and the staff didn't mind at all that I fed him next to our table. We didn't have a main meal though the olives and feta, and cheesy garlic bread we had as finger food was very nice. Would definitely recommend. Pop in, enjoy a traditional meal and a pint in a beautiful pub. There's also an open fire to relax in front of.

This is a fabulous little pub just off the main roads of Islington. Very comfortable traditional pub with an eclectic modern twist. Great selection of beers, food is excellent and changes daily. There is a very sweet little lady named Masha, whom is the pub dog. The place is small, so I would advise keeping your dog on a lead or just make sure it is a well behaved dog and gets on with Masha. I believe they were even featured on a BBC show recently for being a Dog Friendly Pub.

Really decent gastro pub: still feels like a pub but with restaurant service, an amazing menu and if you sit downstairs (which you have to do with the dog) you are near the bar so it's cosy. They were really friendly with the dog, offered water and treated him like a celebrity. Very nice food for not outrageous prices for Marylebone. Seafood, venison, falafels...everyone enjoyed their meal. *I did notice the dog could reach the pest-poison box under the build-in bench which is a reminder that you should always take responsibility for your pet by checking the environment you are in, no matter how pet friendly the venue is*

I belong to a meetup group that holds monthly Bulldog walks in Regent's Park, after which this pub will be filled with dogs and their owners. Dogs are welcomed as valued customers and are supplied with water and treats. Bar serves good "Gastro Pub" food and Sunday Roasts. Pub is quite small and can feel crowded, there is a narrow outside seating area but it is right next to a very busy road so you will need to keep a tight rein on your pooch.

QGood collection of cask ales on tap including the pub's own Fentiman Gold which is brewed by Young's. • StarsThis icon is for.....

Stars are awarded by YOU.

Please help us get the stars right, they indicate overall dog-friendliness. So a simple pub may deserve 5 Stars, whereas a very smart gastropub may only receive 1, (or visa versa).

Stars represent Your Views, SO...

If you think that one of the listed pubs needs more or less Stars PLEASE just HOVER OVER Rate Pub link AND CLICK THE STARS. Your new rating will get sent to us.

Why have some pubs got no stars?

Because no one has told us yet how many it deserves! Please bear with us while we update the pubs, this may take a little while as there are OVER 7000!

As you can see we do need your help with the new dog-friendly ratings. This is an excellent excuse to visit all the pubs that are local to you and do some serious research. Ideally every pub should be ‘starred and iconned’. Woof, woof!
