The best welcome anywhere we have been with our dog, The rooms are lovely and have direct access to to the car park and garden area. Our dog Kaia was welcomed in the bars and even the breakfast area. From the outside looks like a street-side regulars' pub. On the inside it's an amazing, friendly (and dog friendly) establishment. When we went in I asked at the bar if dogs were allowed in. The response was "Allowed? They're positively encouraged" With that someone else came out from the kitchen with scraps of beef from the kitchen. Sasha was in seventh heaven.

Unfortunately, time constraints meant I didn't manage to get to it so can't attest to the dog-friendly-ness. Their website does state that dogs are allowed in on leads. The Royal is a very friendly country pub. It sells Tetleys and various guest beers, does en-suite B&B (which is also dog friendly), has superb views of the surrounding countryside, and hosts splendid carol singing sessions during the six week run up to Christmas. The b&b is dog friendly.
B&B is in chalet type accommodation outside the pub. Regarding the pub itself, there is the usual dog friendly proviso. IE., dogs welcome as long as they behave themselves. Also the management ask that people check with them first. This is purely because they have two dogs of their own.
