Ten out of ten and big licks all round for this pub. Even before supporter had chosen a table in the garden and sat down, a member of staff was approaching with a fresh bowl of water for hot and thirsty dogs. Excellent food, reasonably priced. Lots of nooks and crannies allow diners without dogs to eat or drink in peace. Biscuits on the bar for the dogs and the staff ensure that each dog has been offered a biscuit or two.

The most dog friendly pub in the New Forest. Dogs are allowed anywhere in the pub and are treated to a doggy dinner. Popular are the Sunday dog walks where you meet for coffee and bacon sandwiches, have an hour and a half walk in the forest and then back to pub for a roast and pudding.

A very nice and welcoming pub with a good website to entice you. Its location just within the eastern edge of the New Forest is ideal for those who love the wide open spaces, or just like taking dogs for walks..........they are everywhere - as are the ponies, cattle, pigs, and now even donkeys. Dogs are welcome inside as well as out, and large drinking bowls are provided, but our Lab missed out on her Guinness 'cos the pump was broken. The range of food and drink is excellent, without being too expensive. Despite the address being as Brook the pub is more easily accessed from the east-bound carriageway of the A31, just before it becomes the M27 at Cadnam. The name? Easy to book a table, with a prompt reply to my enquiry about dog friendliness. Staff brought me a drink and water bowl for the pooch while I was waiting for a friend to arrive. Lunch menu was original, tasty food. They have a great microbrewery on site which you can have a look at and have tasters. Will be back. This was actually my first visit to a pub with my new rescue dog, a great introduction for him.
You can easily walk via an underpass over to Southampton common after your visit for a really varied dog walk.

The best bit about this pub is the good off-lead dog walk through Flemming Park, which has a large and interesting designated dog walking area. Given its fairly urban location it is lovely to be out with long grasses, water and trees to scamper around. After the dog walk its a very short road walk to this busy, popular pub down a short side country lane. The food is ok and has various cheap deals. Dogs are allowed in the bar area and there is a large outside space. Happy to provide water and a bowl if requested.

Beautiful country pub in Downton near Salisbury.
