Pub right in the middle of Settle which is a great base for local walks on the Dales. Has been recently refurbished. Dogs are welcome in what they refer to as The Snug, which is quite a large open plan area. Dogs not allowed in the restaurant. Food is pretty basic, sandwiches, wraps and light meals, but good value for money and freshly cooked from local ingredients. Gets very busy at weekends with walkers and they do cater for coach parties so you could find it crowded at times. They advise booking a table at busy periods.

Very friendly, unprepossessing pub in the middle of the pretty town of Settle. Good range of well kept ales, some locally produced and a local cider which is 7.5% proof. Approach with care! Lovely old building with fine fireplace. The menu is fairly basic pub grub but food is home cooked and locally sourced. Dogs welcome in all areas. Newspapers available in the bar and it is obvious this is the sort of place where you can while away an hour or two after taking your four footed friend for a walk along one of the many local footpaths.

Dogs likely to be petted by staff here in this real ale pub with 8 cask beers, 5 ciders and foreign beers on draught and in bottle. A regular winner of the CAMRA pub of the season award but very busy on Thursday-Saturday evenings so nervous dogs might feel a bit crowded. Wall benches for sleepy dogs to shelter under. Two docile English setters are in most nights. A favourite with walkers and canal trippers. Good food too.

They call it a hotel but it's more like a retreat. With facilities including a swimming pool, spa, steam room and fitness studio it's a great place to recharge your batteries. Not to mention being surrounded by some of the most stunning and breathtaking countryside. Kirby Lonsdale is famous for Ruskin's view, and a charming market town in itself. Small dogs are welcome overnight for a small additional fee and all dogs are warmly welcomed into the bar and lounge area. They say "Arrive as a guest, leave as a friend". My friends I think the hard part is in the leaving!

Stars

  • StarsThis icon is for.....

Stars are awarded by YOU.

Please help us get the stars right, they indicate overall dog-friendliness. So a simple pub may deserve 5 Stars, whereas a very smart gastropub may only receive 1, (or visa versa).

Stars represent Your Views, SO...

If you think that one of the listed pubs needs more or less Stars PLEASE just HOVER OVER Rate Pub link AND CLICK THE STARS. Your new rating will get sent to us.

Why have some pubs got no stars?

Because no one has told us yet how many it deserves! Please bear with us while we update the pubs, this may take a little while as there are OVER 7000!

As you can see we do need your help with the new dog-friendly ratings. This is an excellent excuse to visit all the pubs that are local to you and do some serious research. Ideally every pub should be ‘starred and iconned’. Woof, woof!
