The Red Lion Pub in the village of Snargate is not like any other pub that you have visited. The pub is the hidden gem of Romney Marsh; enter the pub and you are in a time warp, going back to the 1940s. The Red Lion is not for you if you want fruit machines, jukeboxes, piped music, Sky/BT sports and all the other trappings of a modern pub. But ideal for a trip into the past for some nostalgia of times gone by with real ale from the barrel, pub games and memories of WWII. It's an amazing little time capsule of history, and it also sells an excellent pint. Dogs are allowed in all three rooms and in the garden The pub only normally serves snacks and dogs are welcome all the time. Thete are water bowls and even doggie snacks available on the bar.

This is the oldest pub in St Leonards-on-sea, a pleasant back street real ale free house, well worth finding at the heart of historic old St Leonards. The outside gives no clue to the unusual horseshoe-shaped bar, with a separate, narrow, quieter room at the rear. Food is not served in the pub, but there is the adjoining renowned St Clements Restaurant. The pub is a short walk from the seafront and Warrior Square and sits at the top of Norman Road with all its many varied and interesting independent shops. Stars are awarded by YOU.

Please help us get the stars right, they indicate overall dog-friendliness. So a simple pub may deserve 5 Stars, whereas a very smart gastropub may only receive 1, (or visa versa).

Stars represent Your Views, SO...

If you think that one of the listed pubs needs more or less Stars PLEASE just HOVER OVER Rate Pub link AND CLICK THE STARS. Your new rating will get sent to us.

Why have some pubs got no stars?

Because no one has told us yet how many it deserves! Please bear with us while we update the pubs, this may take a little while as there are OVER 7000!

As you can see we do need your help with the new dog-friendly ratings. This is an excellent excuse to visit all the pubs that are local to you and do some serious research. Ideally every pub should be ‘starred and iconned’. Woof, woof!
