Dogs are allowed in the main bar and the top bar where the full menu is on offer. Those who don't like dogs should book the bottom bar or the restaurant.
Landlady (Helen)'s husband, Mike oversees the chefs and he is Greek, hence the Greek offerings available as well as some excellent British style dishes. Everything is home made and locally sourced.
The usual Shepherd & Neame offerings on the hand-pumps, a good choice of lagers and a very acceptable wine list top the list.
Prices are above average but not outrageous considering the quality and if you only want a snack, sandwiches, baguettes, ciabattas etc are available (type depending on the bread available but always fresh).
The pub has, courtesy of the previous landlord, Jerry, helicopter landing facilities if that is any incentive.
All in all, a beautiful country pub in an unspoilt little village. Idyllic.

Lovely 14th century pub with small but very good menu (freshly prepared and locally sourced) - steaks are fantastic and some of the ingredients are provided by regulars in the bar. Locals generally friendly and happy to answer questions about the village and area. Pub is usually closed on Mondays during Winter, and between 3-5.30pm in the afternoons.

Great restaurant in this hotel - if you phone up and book a table they can let you eat with your dog in the bar area or out in the garden. Unfortunately, not in the restaurant. The hotel is also pet friendly.

Was a welcome warmth after a cold walk along the seafront. Biscuits for the dog and 2 bowls of beef stew for us; perfect. It's not a posh looking place but everyone was friendly, which is what counts in our book.

The smallest town in Britain, more like a village than a town, people travel from all over to eat here. With a hot food blackboard that includes yummy favorites like steak and kidney pie and stuffed chicken it's forever changing depending on what's in season and everything is cooked freshly. A snack menu is also available, 4 traditional hand pumped ales and an extensive selection of other larger and bitters. After enjoying walks down by the river or lake a lovely open fire lures you in. Water bowls are provided and they ask that dogs are kept on a lead. Supporter recommended.

HERNE BAY Bandstand Cafe Bar

A more unusual recommendation, but worth a visit nonetheless. By the bandstand on the seafront, the Bandstand Cafe Bar is an outdoors treat on a fine day serving large portions of traditional pub food if you've worked up an appetite along the shore. Dogs are always welcome - seating is outside - and they can rely on a bowl of water to accompany your pint.

Nicely located and friendly pub with an all-around sea view. Beautiful beer garden. Dogs very welcome in the bar where food is served (but beware of the house cat). Nothing special ale or beer wise but delectable food available. Excellent walking area.

A lovely pub with big back garden with tables [though not enclosed so technically dogs could get to the road if not on lead]. Inside dogs are welcomed and biscuits offered. Food is first class and there is a lovely atmosphere. A very friendly village pub.

Excellent pub with 3 real ales, 12 craft beers and 5 ciders, that all change regularly. Decent selection of wines too.
Doggies made to feel very welcome with treats on hand and a water bowl outside.
Humans need to remember to put their phone on silent before entering or risk a fine.
Bar snacks such as sausage rolls and scotch eggs are available.
